Welcome to Gulch Media
Hi, I am Lee Ann Moyer. Nice to meet you.
I first started Gulch Media in 2016 as a side project while working as a clinical speech-language pathologist in a local hospital. My previous career in marketing was stilling bringing occasional writing opportunities across my desk, and Gulch Media gave me the opportunity to flex my creative muscles. As projects picked up, I eventually left the medical field to pursue freelancing full-time.
At the start, everything from writing to web design to events management fell under the Gulch Media umbrella. Over time, the focus shifted to content creation for print and digital publications. I also became owner of Portland Mom Collective, a local parenting website, where I managed a team of writers to produce content relevant to Portland-area families. Some of that work is included on this site.
I received my degree in journalism summa cum laude from the American University of Paris, and earned two master’s degrees: the first in linguistics from L’Universite de Paris - La Sorbonne and a second from Portland State University in Speech and Hearing Sciences. A true language nerd, I speak fluent French, passable Spanish, and terrible Arabic (though it’s my favorite language to study!).
In 2021, I took on a new position blending my background in health care and communications in a role at Oregon Health and Science University. After a very hectic stretch, I stopped accepting freelance opportunities through Gulch Media as I took on more and more responsibility at OHSU. This site now serves as a portfolio for previous projects. However, I am always open to discussing creative ideas and know some great local writers, so if you are interested in content services and don’t know where to start, you can always find me at gulchmedia at gmail dot com.
I am a mom to four children, two dogs, three cats, and an ever-growing jungle of plants. There is never a dull moment. If there were, I’d likely spend it at the gym, in the woods, or in my house doing something crafty.
