This piece for The Oregonian was in honor of the American Heart Association’s efforts to teach children healthy habits during their 2019 Heart Health Challenge across Oregon. The assignment included visiting a school assembling, interviewing the AHA team, and discussing student health with the school gym teacher. Publication was both print and digital.

Children are dancing their hearts out to the tune of “Baby Shark” in school gymnasiums throughout Oregon and southwest Washington. If you haven’t yet experienced the “Baby Shark” phenomenon, it only takes a moment at an American Heart Association Kids Heart Challenge kickoff event to observe the immediate effect the song has on elementary students.
