Top Workplaces: Lowered Costs and Shorter Stays Bring Patients to the Surgery Center of Southern Oregon

The Oregonian’s Top Workplaces annual competition highlights the best employers in Oregon and Southwest Washington, based on anonymous employee nominations and feedback. Gulch Media contributed several articles to the special edition.

Two pieces in the Top Workplaces special edition featured the Surgery Center of Southern Oregon. Excerpts from both are below; full text is only available in the print edition. This was an interesting project as interviews were scheduled for the same day as the region was evacuated due to wildfires. With a tight deadline, interviewees were accommodating and much of the conversation took place over email amongst the mayhem.

As one of the busiest centers in Oregon, the core staff of over 100 people sees an average of 300 patients per week, but still finds time to maintain a sense of community and camaraderie that makes working at the Surgery Center unique.”
